Adult Individual Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy encompasses a broad spectrum of techniques that have in common their attempt to improve a client’s mental and emotional condition through regular conversations. Dr. Salerno provides individual psychotherapy to adults on a short-term (time-limited) basis as well as long-term (open-ended) basis.
Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy can help children and adolescents in a variety of ways. They can receive emotional support, resolve conflicts with others, understand feelings and problems, and try out new solutions for problems. Goals for therapy may be specific (improved relations with friends or family) or more general (less anxiety).
Psychological assessment is a speciality of Dr. Salerno. Using psychological tests and observations of behavior, Dr. Salerno measures a client’s current functioning and arrives at a diagnosis that can guide treatment and make recommendations for accomodations.
Psychotherapy can sometimes help two clients who are involved in a romantic relationship gain insight into their connection and their conflicts.
Family therapy helps people in a family to express and explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely, to better understand each other’s experiences, appreciate each other’s needs, and make useful changes in their lives.
